Valentine Editorial Services has a team of editorial consultants
that are experts in African-American literature. Our editors
are better able to identify with African-American experiences
that manifest themselves into fiction and non-fiction stories
because the editors have indeed shared in those same experiences.
This allows VES to critique and edit your project with an
objective viewpoint while still preserving your writer's
voice and sense of style. This enables the writer to relax
and trust that their use of jargon, slang or ebonics,
that which can be a great expression of our culture, is well-understood,
embraced and refined by VES.

Who better
to edit the scene of your fiction story where the whole family
looks up and pauses because Uncle Ellis just showed up at
the family reunion with his
70's
purple velvet suit
on (it is 87 degrees outside)
poppin' his collar and
talking about, "What
y'all
youngin's
know about this right here?" he boasts, a little winded
while wiping his brow with a matching velvet
handkerchief...
Who better
to edit the part in your memoir about the pains that you endured
as a young girl because you were too dark and your hair was
too nappy? You never quite fit in and struggled, well into
adulthood, to help the little girl, who is now a woman, love
all of who God intended for her to be a beautiful,
black woman...
Editors
who have attended those same family reunions and editors who
can identify with those memories associated with such a childhood.
At VES, you will receive professionalism with a personal touch.
We are very knowledgeable about the technical aspects of both
fiction and non-fiction literature.
